Fearfully and Wonderfully Made D Fevig, September 23, 2022April 9, 2024 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.David, in Psalm 139:13-16 What a miracle our creation is! We were knit together in our mothers’ wombs. Today, using ultrasound technology, prospective parents can see this truth on camera at very early stages of pregnancy. Even before He “knit us together”, He knew us, from eternity. He already had plans for us! I praise Him for what He has done! What Have We Done? In our day, for the past 50 years, many in our country think it is okay and even right to destroy this precious life in the womb. The enemy has blinded the eyes of so many to ignore the divine truth that an unborn baby is a creation of God, made in His image. Even the materialist, whose mantra is “follow the science”, conveniently ignores the truth that an unborn child is a new, distinct human life in the womb. They would agree that a new life begins at conception, but that those tiny humans don’t have an inherent right to live. Mothers can choose to kill that life before birth. Abortion proponents try to portray it as a positive thing, good for women. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 11:14 that “Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light”. The beginnings of this deception in our country, and all of the other sexual aberrations in our culture, was the so-called “sexual revolution” in the 1960s. Sex was “divorced”, so to speak, from the marriage union of a man and a woman. God’s purpose for sex is twofold; intimacy between married couples (the two shall become one flesh, Genesis 2:24) and having babies (be fruitful and multiply, Genesis 1:28). Sex outside of marriage is prohibited in God’s eyes. But now, rejecting God’s good standards, sex has become like an idol, a selfish act of pleasure with few or no restraints. Abortion Language The rest of this article will focus on abortion. It is considered necessary based on the philosophy above; but God’s standards haven’t changed. So those who reject God’s standards still reap the consequences; pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, emotional and mental health issues, guilty consciences. Great efforts are made to deal with these consequences and still maintain a lifestyle dominated by sexual pleasure. Including changing the vocabulary. So “the right” to abortion has been renamed. Reproductive choice, the right to choose, the right to control my body, etc. are all examples of abortion supporters attempting to mask the reality of what abortion does to all people involved in it, and make it sound like a good and necessary thing. The “angel of light” at work. Isaiah said in his book, chapter 5 verse 20, “woe to those who call evil good, and good evil, who substitute darkness for light, who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter”. This verse exactly describes those who rename a deadly evil called abortion. Abortion as Healthcare? A recent example of this deceptive language; abortion is “healthcare”. In rare cases, abortions are medically necessary, and if so, it’s still legal in all states. But let’s not call elective abortions (the vast majority) healthcare. Elective abortion is a choice by a healthy mother to kill an unwanted, unborn child. And no baby is unwanted; just check the adoption waiting lists. The abortion proponents say that it would be too inconvenient for the mother to carry the baby to term and proceed with adoption. She should have the right to go on with her life. But most women who choose abortion find out too late that they are also victims, often experiencing mental and physical problems as a result of their choice. A reputable study by the British Psychiatric Association found that women who had abortions were 81% more likely to experience mental health issues. And no wonder! Women who have miscarriages often mourn their loss. I mourned along with my wife Kathy when she miscarried what would have been our first child. How much more so when a woman allows her unborn baby to be ripped from her womb! I have known women who have had abortions, and the guilt can be overwhelming. Elective abortions not only are not healthcare, but they do harm to two persons, the baby and the mother. And the abortionist as well, at least the ones who still have a conscience. Attacks on Pro-Life Advocates Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, pro-life crisis pregnancy centers have come under attack, with words, but also with vandalism and destruction of property. They are accused of supplying “misinformation”. These attacks have not been condemned by our president, and are ignored by most news media. It seems that the most extreme supporters of abortion think that violence is justified to preserve their “right” to abortion. Maybe this activity shouldn’t take us by surprise; consider the violence perpetrated in the womb during abortions. A survey by the pro-life group Live Action found that less than 5% of Planned Parenthood facilities actually provide prenatal care. They don’t provide any options except the brutal, but profitable procedure of abortion. In contrast, crisis pregnancy centers offer pregnancy tests, wellness exams, ultrasounds, and information on the process of abortion, all free, supported by donations of money and time. What abortion advocates don’t like is that these centers tell the truth about the process of abortion, not the misinformation regularly spouted by abortion supporters. What Should We Do? We should be active in electing candidates who respect life, but the final answer isn’t in our political system. Psalm 118:9 says, “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.” The most important factor is people’s hearts. That’s where the change has to happen. Let’s pray for those who support abortion, that they may see the truth, that the veil of deception would be torn apart, that they may see the Lord’s hand in the creation of new human beings in the womb, that abortion would become unthinkable in our country and around the world. And until that happens, let’s show compassion to and minister to the victims of abortion, the mother, the abortionist, and those who oppose us. God’s kindness leads to repentance (Romans 2:4). Culture Super Bowl? How About Super Decadence? February 20, 2023April 9, 2024 As usual, I watched the Super Bowl this year. I think I have seen every one, including the first one in 1967 between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs. I’m still waiting and hoping that my Detroit Lions will make it someday! I had an unexpectedly negative… Read More

This message is very similar to the one she heard, at around the same time as this letter was written in 1974. Culture Hidden in Darkness April 27, 2024May 8, 2024 Our church does a free dinner twice a month. Recently, the topic of abortion came up at our table. A person made the statement, “I’m in favor of abortion. It’s a woman’s choice, between her and her doctor”. In spite of attempts to clarify and share truth with her, she… Read More
Seems many are quite selective in what ‘science’ to follow. Abortion is an example of ‘human nature’ at it’s worst, deception, and a basic refusal to love the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:10).
Here’s another example of the media hypocrisy shown on this subject. https://www.foxnews.com/media/nbcs-today-stuns-delights-pro-lifers-segment-referring-babies-womb
Thanks Bob. This shows that the reality and value of life in the womb should be obvious to all in our “scientific” age.
